Sounds from the Park

Speakers' Corner in Hyde park has been famous for open-air public speaking since the nineteenth century. The project Sounds from the Park gathered an archive of oral histories, images and documents at Bishopsgate Institute to record this important history. This booklet explores the motivations and experiences of Hyde Park's orators, hecklers and crowd members, drawing on our unique archive. It is richly illustrated with images donated by many talented photographers, including Moyra and Rodger Peralta, Chris Kennett and Philip Wolmuth. Introduction by Philip Wolmuth. Text by Rosa Schling.
